Significance of the move
There is little doubt that this move has been brought about by the damning ruling handed down to the Barcelona Courts in which the European City Guide was fined €300,000 and closed for a year for deceptive advertising.

What is most farcical about this is that stopECG continues to hear from people who are receiving demands for money and threats of court action even though they signed the Barcelona contracts that have been ruled to be misleading.

At approximately the same time as the move Ovag International AG, who had worked on behalf of the European City Guide as a debt collection agency bowed out, and a new company Premium Recovery started aggressively chasing people who had signed European City Guide forms. This was followed in early 2004 by the arrival of a third debt collection agency Gravis Inkasso Gmbh.

While constantly threatening Legal action we can still find no evidence that The European City Guide have ever taken anyone to court for refusing to pay money when disputing an advertsing contract.
