StopECG feel this is a significant enough departure for us to establish a new page where we can give advice to people outside Europe who find themselves in dispute with the ECG
However with the opportunities offered by a whole new name and target audience the ECG have (Surprise Surprise) missed the opportunity to remove the elements of their contract that have caused so much confusion and distress in the past. The main top block of text bears no mention of a contractual agreement or price, the words "only Sign if you wish to place an insertion" are in a block of text below the recipients address and could easily be missed as the reader is drawn to the checking of their details below.
The terms of the contract are also depressingly familiar, with no escape offered for 3 years and then the contract renewing itself if written notice is not given of cancellation. The cooling of period is now just 7 days as cancellation must be sent by registered post there is little realistic chance of an overseas firm getting the letter to Spain in the timescale allowed!
The contract indicates that the directory will be published on a CD-Rom, there is no mention of a website.
